As students return to school this week, drivers are reminded to slow down, stay alert, and watch for children near roadways, crosswalks, and school zones.
Motorists should obey posted speed limits, stop for school buses with flashing red lights and extended stop arms, avoid distractions like cell phones, and be prepared for increased traffic during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times.
A few extra seconds of caution can help keep students, families, and everyone on the road safe.
Several area school systems will resume classes this week.
Students in the Linton-Stockton School Corporation and White River Valley Schools begin the new school year on Tuesday.
North Daviess students return Wednesday, as do the Bloomfield School District and Pike County School Corporation.
