The House has approved a bill that would make daylight saving time permanent.
The Sunshine Protection Act of 2025 would end the twice-a-year time changes, making daylight saving time the standard time nationwide.
The legislation, which is backed by President Trump, now heads to the Senate.
The U.S. House has approved a bill that would end the twice-a-year clock change by making daylight saving time permanent.
If the Senate passes the measure and President Trump signs it, Americans will no longer change their clocks each spring and fall.
In southern Indiana, however, winter sunrises wouldn’t come until after 8:00 a.m., raising concerns about children waiting for school buses in the dark.
Supporters say keeping the same time year-round would eliminate the disruption caused by changing clocks and could improve health and safety.
Opponents worry darker winter mornings could create new safety risks.
