Ron Jones, age 80, passed away on June 29, 2026, in Newburgh, Indiana. Born on February 7, 1946, in Vincennes, Indiana, he was a steady and hardworking man who valued family and service. Ron graduated from Lincoln High School and served his country in the U.S. Army.
Following his military service, he built a long career as a carpenter. He proudly owned and operated his wood shop, The Pine Box, for 18 years, where he built homes and crafted many beautiful pieces. He took great pride in his work and was respected for his strong work ethic. Always keeping busy, Ron also enjoyed gardening and frequently lent a helping hand to others.
On August 6, 1986, Ron married Terry “Madison” Jones. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ron is survived by his wife, Terry; his children, Scott Jones (Cheryl), C.J. Jones, Dave Lovins (Tammy), and Shawn Jones (Hilary); his brother, Mike Jones; eight grandchildren: Megan, Emily, Kayla, Dakota, Tanner, Emily, Stevie, and Louie; and his great-grandchildren, Ellie, Skylin, Lynden, Charlie, Meredith, and Piper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton Jones and Beaulah “Smith” Jones; his son, Shannon Jones, and his sisters, Evelyn Steffey and Sharlyn Lauderdale.
Per his request, Ron will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The gathering will take place at the YMCA Bettye J. McCormick Senior Center, located at 2009 Prospect Ave, Vincennes, IN 47591. This is a fitting location to honor him, as it is where Ron was employed and dedicated 19 years of service.
