Vincennes City Council has unanimously approved an adjustment in the City’s weed ordinance, due to high weeds in parts of the City. Council members discussed the difference between weeds and deliberate wildflower or butterfly habitat. Vincennes City Inspector Brad Snider is worried about high weeds as a problem for neighbors in those areas.
The idea is not to ban wildflower or butterfly areas. However, the new ordinance is to ensure no noxious weeds are in place in those displays. Council members also promised to re-visit the ordinance for future clarification as needed.
