The westbound U-S 50 ramp from U-S 41 at Sixth Street is still closed, due to bridge work on the nearby Hillcrest Road overpass. In addition to the ramp closure, the area around the bridge has been restricted to one lane as the work continues.
The technical reason for the closure is for bridge painting. However, Indiana Department of Transportation spokesman Gary Bryan says the work goes far beyond that. Bryan says the overall work is also key in keeping those bridges safe.
The detour for the closure is taking the other three parts of the cloverleaf to bypass the ramp closure.
