The jobless rate continues jumping in Knox County. The unemployment rate for Knox County in September was 4.8%, 1.8% higher than the previous year. That jump is the most of any area county year over ear. It also moves to thrird most in the immediate area, behind only Greene and Sullivan Counties.
Daviess and Martin Counties shared the state’s lowest unemployment rate in September at 3.2%.
For Daviess County, that’s nine tenths of a percent higher than September of 2023 and three tenths of a percent higher for Martin County.
Gibson County had a jobless rate of 3.4% last month, nine tenths of a percent higher than September of last year.
Pike County’s rate of 4.3%, one percent higher than the year before.
Sullivan and Greene Counties had unemployment rates of 5.2% in September.
For Sullivan County, that’s 1.6% higher than the year before.
Greene County’s rate was 1.4% higher.
