A good number of Knox County candidates knew their fates at 6:01 last night, since they ran un-opposed for their positions.
Both Knox County judges up for election were re-seated on their benches. Judge Gara Lee will return in Knox Superior Court One, and Brian Johnson will stay as Judge in Knox Superior Court Two. Prosecutor Dirk Carnahan will also return to his position, after running without opposition.
A few new faces will grace Knox County positions. Rita Meredith will become the next Knox County Clerk; she takes over for the term-limited Dave Shelton. Zac Harper will start January first as the new Knox County Assessxor. Two new faces will come into the County’s executive positions, as Matt Hoffman is the new District Three Knox County Commissioner, and Brandy Toney is the newest Knox County Councilwoman from Council District Four. Toney replaces Rich Chattin, after Chattin was defeated by Hoffman in the Knox County Commissioners’ Republican primary in May. Also, Terry Vieck will be a new face, representing Council District One. The other two—Mike Morris and Jay Yochum—return to their seats, also unopposed. Other winners include Lisa Clark-Benock as County Auditor, and Nick Carter as Surveyor.
