There will be a new Sheriff in Knox County after today’s Election Day. Current Sheriff Doug Vantlin is term-limited from running for another term in office, meaning his spot is being vacated after January first.
The two men trying to fill his position are Republican Dan Short and Democrat Brian Hagen. Short says if elected, he wants to bring a mindset of letting his people do their jobs in an overall framework. Hagen gives his emphasis to ensure an effective County law enforcement agency.
Both men come to the race with extensive law enforcement experience. Short’s work includes the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and the Stockton, California Police Department. Hagen’s career has been three-decades-plus in the Vincennes Police Department.
