Vincennes City Council has learned the City has to reduce nearly 2 million dollars from its approved budget for next year. Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum gives some areas that could feel the axe from the current budget. Mayor Yochum says on top of that, they City was hit by a larger than expected insurance increase for 2027.
The budget adjustments were mentioned as part of a first reading of the City’s salary ordinance for next year. Council members pass the annual ordinance to set the wages for various City workers—including the Mayor, Clerk-Treasurer, and City police officers and firefighters.
