Knox County is still losing population, at least through counts made into 2025. A Vincennes Community Schools document claims a nearly two-thousand person drop in Vincennes from 2010 to 2025.
The latest data from last year shows that as an over 11 percent decline—from 18,423 residents in 2010, to 16,378 last year. Knox County itself is down around seven percent in that time, with 35,652 people calling the County home in 2025.
Vincennes Community Schools superintendent Greg Parsley points declining population, and recent property tax cuts, as factors lowering the Operations Fund. Parsley is planning for a 700-thousand dollars fund loss by calendar year 2028. Corporation officials are working, and will continue to work, with various financial consultants to plan for the expected present and future shortfall.
