The move is on for Vincennes City Council to reduce its budget it approved on first reading at their second session in September. The budget must be approved on three readings to be sent for state approval.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum knows cuts are necessary, due to revenue reductions caused by state Legislative action. Mayor Yochum has also discussed a Vincennes Water Utilities PILOT—or payment in lieu of taxes. The Mayor feels that PILOT would still be a benefit to City workers.
At this point, employee raises may be on the reduction block. Another reduction the Mayor is considering is an elimination of curbside recycling pickup. If enacted, the only recycling option would be through taking the itesm City’s recycling center.
