Around Knox County:
In Tennis:
South Knox defeated Vincennes Rivet for the Tennis Sectional title last night 4-1 at the Lincoln High School courts.
South Knox got singles wins from Reid Hall, Layne Hays, and Warren Shepard, and a doubles win from Cooper Neal and Ethan Cork. Rivet’s lone victory was in doubles, through Bracey Morron and Mikes Holka. Next up for the Spartans will be a berth in the Jasper tennis regional.
In soccer:
The Vincennes Lincoln High School girls team defeated Princeton 3-0 to go to 12-2-1 on the year. JJ Riggs led with two goals, while Brylee Quinett added the other.
In middle school sports:
South Knox took both the boys’ and girls’ cross country titles at the annual Blue Chip Conference meet. The Spartans’ Henry Ellerman won the boys’ meet, with Macon Perry winning for the girls. North Knox was third in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions.
The Clark Middle School 6-A and 6-B volleyball teams lost to Pike Central. Both lost in three games. Clark lost in the 6-A match, winning the first set 25-16, and losing the last two 25-15, and 15-9. The 6-B team also won the first set 25-20, and lost the last two, 25-13 and 15-8.
