Longtime Vincennes community leader Gary Hackney was honored yesterday with the first ever “Community Champion” award. The honor is modified from the former Knox County Chamber of Commerce “Exceptional Teacher” award.
Chamber president Michelle Smith feels his involvement makes Hackney a great first selection for the expanded honor.
Hackney is also a good bridge for the updated award. He is a retired teacher and principal in the Vincennes Community School Corporation. Currently, he serves as host of WAOV’s “Morning Chat.”
