Various Knox County departments are looking to set their budget requests to take before the Knox County Council in September’s budget hearings. One of those departments with the largest budgets is the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff Doug Vantlin says it take a a lot of money to run the Department both on the road, and in the Knox County Jail. Sheriff Vantlin also notes one area that surprisingly has not been a problem in recent years is fuel expense.
This will be Sheriff Vantlin’s eighth and final budget to deal with. He is term-limited from running again; he position will be taken by either Dan Short or Brian Hagen. The two men will run against each other for Vantlin’s Sheriff’s position in November.
