Miketta Hope Kirby, age 25, of Bicknell, Indiana, passed away on July 8, 2026, in Bicknell. She was born on October 21, 2000, in Washington, Indiana, and lived a life marked by love, faith, and devotion to those she cherished most.
Miketta was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter, and friend whose presence brought spirit and steadiness to her family. She was the daughter of Michael and Christina Kirby of Bicknell. She is survived by her dogs, Zora and Honey; her siblings, Kendall Kirby (David Wagerman) of Bicknell, David Welfel of Vincennes, Doni White of Vincennes, Brooklyn Fuquay of Washington and Katelyn Reener (Zack) of Princeton; her nieces, Kaeonna, Evelynn, and Elaine; her nephews, Kaizer, Kolson, Tayvin, Cayden, and Kyle; her maternal grandmother, Geraldine White; her paternal grandparents, Walter and Rebecca Kirby; and her best friends, Macie Daugherty and Kassidy Harris.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jordan Walls; her maternal grandfather, James Kelly White; her cousin, Dalton Kirby; several aunts and uncles; and her pig, Puddles. Though her family grieves deeply, they take comfort in knowing that Miketta made peace with God and went home to be with her Heavenly Father and her brother.
Miketta was apart of the honors society within North Knox then later received her Bachelor’s Degree from Vincennes University where she was on the dean’s list. After graduating she worked in Distance Education for Vincennes University. She loved her job and all of her colleagues. She approached her work with dedication and care, and she was respected for the kindness and reliability she brought to those around her. She had a natural gift for bringing people together and was known as the organizer of the family, always helping to keep everyone and everything connected and included.
Outside of work, Miketta embraced life with a spirit of adventure and joy. She loved to travel, hike, visit national parks, vacation, and spend time on the beach. She loved her animals dearly and found comfort and happiness in their companionship. Sunday mornings were especially meaningful to her, and she faithfully watched Elevation Worship with Pastor Steve Furtick, drawing strength and peace from her faith.
Miketta will be remembered for her loving heart, her strong sense of family, and the gentle way she cared for those around her. Her life, though far too brief, was filled with purpose, devotion, and memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her family and friends will forever hold close the laughter, love, and light she shared so freely.
