John David McCormack, 53, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 5:37 pm at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN, with beloved family at his side.
John was born on May 12, 1973, in Vincennes, IN, to Gene Randall and Patricia Ann (Combs) McCormack. At the young age of 4 months old, John was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis, which left him severely disabled and requiring special needs care. John was the youngest of 4 children.
John was a member of the Vincennes Lincoln High School Class of 1995, where he received his certificate of completion. After his completion of high school, he went on to a work program at the Baker Center through KCARC. He was also a member of the Central Church of Christ in Vincennes, Indiana.
Even with his lifelong disabilities, John touched the hearts of so many people and was deeply loved.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Gene McCormack and Patricia McCormack. He is survived by his three siblings, brother, Robert “Bob” (Margie) McCormack, of Vincennes, IN, brother, George (Tammy) McCormack of Casper, Wyoming, and sister, Theresa (Dave) Patton of Bruceville, IN. His nieces and nephews, Andrea (Nathan) Deatherage of Newburgh, IN, Steven “Eric” (Jill) Steele of Vincennes, IN, Ryan (Daniell) Steele of Vincennes, IN, Jennifer (Jed) Zampedri of Casper, WY, Jamal Armoush of Evansville, IN, and Andrea (Roy) Evans of Birmingham, AL. He also had eleven great nieces and nephews: Taylor Deatherage of Newburgh, IN, Blake Deatherage of Newburgh IN, Aaron Carie, Sebastian Steele, Abigail Steele, Harlee Steele, Maycee Steele and Donovan Detty all of Vincennes, IN, Killian Zampedri of Casper, WY, Jacey Evans and Roy Evans of Birmingham, AL and one great – great niece, Arya Chance of Newburgh, IN.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Good Samaritan Hospital, Aperion Health, and the Freelandville Nursing home for the wonderful and loving care they provided John over the last few years.
There will be a graveside visitation at Memorial Park Cemetery on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM, with service following at 11:30 AM, officiated by Larry Howerton.
