Elva R. Scott, 92, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and formerly of Cloverdale, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026. We find comfort in knowing he is with the Lord and reunited with his beloved wife of 62 years, Donetta. Affectionately known as “Junior” or “Scotty” by many, he was born to Elva and Emma (Kays) Scott on August 22, 1933, in Bicknell, Indiana.
Scotty served with pride and honor in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Following his service, he worked for Ford Motor Company, where he dedicated 30 years of his life before retiring in 1985. Known for his dedication and hard work, Scotty never fully retired; he continued to work at Cloverdale Schools and DePauw University until 1996.
Some of Scotty’s favorite hobbies included fishing and gardening at his home in Cloverdale. Above all, Scotty was a devoted family man. He deeply loved his wife, Donetta, and his two daughters, Kathy and Jody. He also cherished his role as “Papaw” and “Pap” to all of his grandkids and great-grandkids. Scotty was a supportive father and grandfather, and he could often be found cheering for his children and grandchildren at their various sporting events, horse shows, or any other family activity.
Scotty is preceded in death by both parents and His wife, Donetta; brothers, William and Harold, and his sisters, Winona Goodall and Nancy Lett. Scotty is survived by his two daughters, Kathy and her husband Doug Biggs of Stillwater, Jody and her husband Shane Spurgeon of Naples, Florida, along with his beloved grandkids and great- grandkids, Scott, Erin, Brooke, Sydney, Maguire, Samantha, Alex, and Spencer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:30 pm at Bicknell Memorial Gardens. Online condolences and fond memories may be made at www.fredrickandson.com. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Bicknell Chapel, is honored to be entrusted with Mr. Scott’s arrangements.
