In some places, planters are rolling out onto area fields to get this year’s corn and soybeans in the ground for the current growing season.
They are not alone in the fields though; some backyard gardeners are also working on so-called “cool weather” crops. One of those is Purdue Extenison educator Valerie Clingerman; she lets us know what she has in the ground now. Clingerman reports those early-planted food crops are doing quite well at the moment.
With fields—both small and large—in the planting stages, area drivers are reminded to watch out for farm equipment. That warning is especially valid for those on narrower secondary county roads.
