Georgia Farrell Carie, born on August 13, 1936, in Sumner, Illinois, and a longtime resident of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away on January 18, 2026. She was a pillar of joy and a source of unwavering supporCart to all who knew her. Her legacy is defined by her deep devotion to her family, her compassionate career in nursing, and her compassion for her community.
Georgia graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1953 and pursued her passion for caregiving at Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her Associate’s Degree in 1956. Her nursing career was marked by kindness, empathy, and professionalism, traits that endeared her to patients and colleagues alike.
In Vincennes, Indiana, Georgia joined hearts and lives with Richard Carie on February 9, 1957—a loving union that flourished for 68 years until Richard’s passing. Together, they built a life rich with shared experiences and raised a family that remained at the center of Georgia’s world. She took immense pride in her children: Rhonda Carie (Kim) of Leavenworth, IN; Randy Carie (Carla) of West Lafayette, IN; Russ Carie (Chris) of Mt. Carmel, IL; and Rod Carie (Kristie) of Vincennes, IN, who gave her the joy of being a mother.
Her grandchildren—Rick, Carl (Tasha), Calvin, Clayton (Amber), Nick (Ashley), Kali (Blaine), Keenan, Khenden, Justin (Amanda), and Chelsey (Matt)—and her great-grandchildren Bellamey, Chloe, Brylynn, Abby, Bostyn, Emily, Melodie, Paxton, Kaylynn, Jonathan, Evalynn, and Penny, could always count on her cheers from the sidelines, her listening ear, and her comforting embrace. In her eyes, no milestone was too small to celebrate and no challenge too great to face together.
Georgia’s life was a tapestry of the things she loved. She found pleasure in the tranquility of fishing, the thrill of bowling, and the beauty of her meticulously tended landscape and flower gardens. A collector at heart, she adored her Longaberger Baskets and glass bird figurines, tokens of a life spent cherishing the delicate and the beautiful. Her love of travel reflected her belief that life was an adventure to be savored.
Above all, Georgia was a constant presence at every family event—whether cheering on her children and grandchildren at sporting events or sitting in a pew at the Wabash Community Church, where her faith and sense of community were as much a part of her as her warm smile and generous spirit.
Preceding her in death were Georgia’s beloved husband, Richard Carie; her parents, Irvin and Nellie Mae “Judy” Paddick; and her sisters, Brunelda Thompson and Sharon Wagner. The values she embodied, and the love she gave, will continue to resonate through the generations. Georgia Farrell Carie’s memory will be treasured, and her life celebrated as a testament to the power of love, the dignity of service, and the beauty of a family bond that endures beyond her passing.
