Joseph Owen Boberg, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 67. Joe was born on May 17, 1958, in Vincennes, Indiana, to the late Kenneth and Etta “Archer” Boberg. His life was a testament to the strength and warmth of his spirit, which touched everyone he knew.
Throughout his life, Joe was known for his dedication to his family and community. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Robin L. Boberg of Bicknell, IN. His legacy will live on in his children, Justin Boberg (Deanna) of Scottsville, KY; Matthew Sutton (Beth Wiers) of DeRuyter, NY; and Derek Sutton (Brittany) of Freelandville, IN. Joe’s joy was multiplied by his eight grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Joe is also survived by his siblings, Jeff Boberg (Linda) of Bicknell, IN; Joyce Staffer (Mark) of Bloomington, IN; Judy Barnes (Allen) of Muncie, IN; Jeremy Boberg (Mikki) of Bloomfield, IN; and Jonathan Boberg (Sarah) of Evansville, IN. His large family extended to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will dearly miss his wise presence and hearty laughter. Joe was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his son, Steven Sutton, whom he continues to hold dear in his memory.
After graduating from high school, Joe courageously served his country in the Army. He went on to work diligently as a truck driver and a machine operator, roles that enabled him to form many lasting friendships and a reputation for reliability and hard work.
Joe’s hobbies were as wide-ranging as his talents. An admirable craftsman, he found solace in woodworking, shaping raw materials into beautiful creations that will be cherished for generations. His love of mechanics kept him busy tinkering in his workshop. Joe’s passions also extended to the great outdoors, where he found joy in camping, fishing, and horseback riding.
Beyond his hobbies, Joe was a devout member of Bethel Church, where his faith and sense of community were deeply rooted. His involvement and service within the church community were a reflection of his commitment to his beliefs and to the people around him.
Joe’s life was a beautiful patchwork of dedication, service, love, and adventure. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we carry forward his values of family, commitment, and kindness. Though he may have left this earth, the memories and lessons he shared will remain with all who were fortunate enough to know him. Joseph Owen Boberg’s story is one of heartfelt moments, unstinting support, and an ever-present love that knew no bounds. His legacy will live on as a guiding light to all who were touched by his remarkable life.
