Ronnie Dean Street, aged 73, a man of honor and service, passed away on September 30, 2025, in Oaktown, Indiana. Born on October 20, 1951, in Washington, IN, Ronnie lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his community.
After graduating from Lincoln High School as a proud member of the class of 1970, Ronnie served in the United States Army, where he honed his values of discipline and loyalty. In 1976, he continued his commitment to public service as a respected Vincennes Police Officer. Beyond his official duties, Ronnie was also a star track sprinter and hurdler, skilled carpenter, passionate musician, and avid pursuer of every hobby he could get his hands on. He taught his children his favorite hobbies of fishing and music, and he allowed them to “borrow” his lures and guitars whenever they wanted.
Ronnie had a passion for life; he was well-known for his basketball days (Bulldog), his instructor days at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, his football coaching days at the YMCA (go Raiders), his music days at any venue southern Alabama had to offer, and his sailing days, spending many cherished moments as a “Sailing Bum” at Pirates Cove in Elberta, AL. This was capped by winning the Lost Bay Regatta in 2001. His love for the open water was paralleled only by his dedication to the F.O.P. (Badge #133 Lodge 62), where he remained an active and beloved member for many years and to his fandom of the Notre Dame fighting Irish and Chicago Cubs.
He leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of his 4 boys: Matt Street (Amy) of Indianapolis, Ian Street of Athol, MA, Cody Street (Monica) of Indianapolis, and Eric Street (Margaret) of Indianapolis and 12 Grandchildren (10 boys and 2 girls). His memory will also be warmly cherished by his siblings: Pam Sandusky, Tana Lang, Tim Street, Dana Singley, Mark Duncan, Wayne Duncan, Garland Duncan, and Connie Duncan.
Ronnie’s life was shaped by the influence of his parents, David Street Sr. and Virginia “Lindley” Street Duncan, and his brothers, Jerry Street, Joe Street, and David Street (Chick), who all predeceased him.
In remembrance of Ronnie Dean Street, a.k.a. Woody Street, Number One Riff Raff, part-time carpenter, musician, and Sailing Bum at Pirates Cove, we reflect on a journey well-traveled, a song well-sung, and a life well-lived. He navigated the tides of life with resilience and grace, making a lasting mark on the hearts of those who knew him. As we say farewell to this remarkable man, let us celebrate the endearing spirit and the undying memories that he leaves behind. Ronnie’s legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of his friends and family and within the cherished stories shared by all who loved him.
