
A Washington man is facing various charges after fleeing a traffic stop in Knox County late Friday night.
40-year-old Ian Stewart was pulled over by state police for disregarding a traffic light on State Road 550 at State Road 67.
When told to get out of his car for a sobriety test, Stewart fled.
Just south of Church Road, Stewart drove off the highway and into a bean field where he got out and laid down in an attempt to hide form police.
He eventually gave up.
Police found two syringes containing a dark liquid on Stewart’s person and a fully loaded 9mm magazine inside his vehicle.
A gun was not found.
Stewart is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Possession of a Syringe, Resisting Law Enforcement, Possession of a Weapon or Instrument by a Serious Violent Felon, and Criminal Mischief.
The investigation is ongoing.
