Barbara B. Snyder, 88, of Vincennes, died on May 17, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. Barbara was born in Berwyn, Illinois, on January 22, 1937, to Myron P. and Doris Kinney Boehm. She was a graduate of Hanover College and Indiana University.
Barbara served as a teacher for thirty-three years, most of which were spent in
the South Knox School Corporation. She taught middle school math, and she also
coached middle school and high school academic teams. The students on her 1990
high school math team won the state Academic Super Bowl, and four of her
MATHCOUNTS teams brought home regional trophies. Several of the math teaching
resource books she wrote were published nationally.
Barbara served as an elder in the Indiana Presbyterian Church. After she retired
from teaching, she became a commissioned lay pastor, pastoring churches in
Washington and Bloomfield. She also chaired several committees for the Presbytery of
Ohio Valley and served on the presbytery’s Council.
Barbara enjoyed singing, participating in church choirs, the Wabash Valley
Choral Society, the National Flag Celebration Choir, and other area choral groups.
Survivors include her children Kathleen Crock, Michael Snyder, and John L.
Snyder, grandchildren Mark Hiatt, Raymond Hiatt, Madison Crock, Dalton Snyder, and
Benjamin Snyder, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grand children.
Services will be held at Indiana Presbyterian Church at 2:00 on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, with visitation for friends and family to begin at 11:00 am. Pastor Frank Harmon will be officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Indiana Presbyterian Church or the South Knox Education Foundation. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Barbara.
