Bradley Lee Toney, 69, of Oaktown, IN passed away Tuesday May 20, 2025 at his residence. Brad was born July 18, 1955 in Rapid City, SD, the son of Larry and Doris (Baughman) Toney. Throughout his 13 years of school he attended 12 different schools in various states and countries while his father served in the Air Force. He then returned to Indiana and was a 1973 graduate of North Knox High School. Following graduation he attended Lincoln Technical Institute. He worked as a farm hand and was employed by Kixmiller Implement before he began his career as an electrician in the coal mines. He married Angela Lamb on January 1, 1978 and they made their life together for 47 years. Following retirement from the coal mine he and his wife owned and operated Double T, LLC working in various aspects of the watermelon industry.
Brad enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting knives and guns. He loved to tell stories, make others laugh, and torment everyone he knew. Together, he and his wife travelled all over the country with a passion for trying out new restaurants. He also enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in all of their activities.
Brad was a member of Shaker Prairie Christian Church and a lifetime member of both the NRA and the North American Hunting Team. He was involved with the Illiana Watermelon Association for many years and had served as a past president of the association. He also served 4 years on the National Watermelon Promotion Board.
Brad is survived by his wife, Angie Toney, children Machelle (Brad) Trittipo of Morristown, IN and Michael (Brandy) Toney of Oaktown, IN. His treasured grandchildren Kaelee Trittipo, Evan Trittipo, Miles Toney, and Grady Toney. He is also survived by his sister in law and brother in law Kim and Tammy Cardinal of Oaktown, IN, nieces and nephews, Abbi Roy, Mason Davis, Colby Davis, Amy Carter, Alissa Hoalt, Daniel Cardinal, and Mary Margaret Lamb and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Susan Davis and grandchildren, Jude and Audrey Toney.
Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Church in Freelandville on May 24, 2025 at 2 P.M. with Pastor Steve Sandefur officiating the family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until the time of the service. He will be laid to rest in Freelandville Christian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Shaker Prairie Christian Church or Bethel Church.
