Brian Scott Curry, known fondly as “Bongo”, was a cherished husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and adored brother. He left this world peacefully on February 18, 2025, while in Vincennes, IN. He brought joy and warmth to all he met with his kind spirit and friendly demeanor. Born on September 10, 1959, in Linton, IN, Brian’s life was a tapestry of creativity and love, woven through his 65 years of life.
As a young man, Brian sought higher education before dedicating himself to a life of service and hard work. His career path was as varied as his interests, beginning as an orderly at Good Samaritan Hospital, where he demonstrated his caring nature. Brian also delivered propane for Empire Gas, and before retiring, he showed diligence and expertise as an operator at Johnson Controls. Brian had a passion for music, often delighting others by playing the guitar and singing with heartfelt joy.
An animal lover with a creative soul, Brian possessed many talents and hobbies. Alongside music, he was skilled in woodworking, an avid fisherman, a dedicated gardener, and a dedicated member of the Bicknell First Baptist Church. His love for the outdoors was evident in his impressive collection of arrowheads, proudly acquired from his time spent amidst nature.
Those fortunate enough to have known Brian would agree that ‘creative’ was more than a descriptor; it was a true reflection of his essence. His life was a masterpiece crafted through his various interests, kindness, and friendships around the community.
Brian’s memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife, Pamela Curry of Sandborn, IN, and his proud children: Lori Lundy (Bill) of Washington, IN, Rob Curry (Shannon) of Vincennes, IN, James Curry (Robin) of Charleston, SC, Melissa Curry (fiancé Matt Neumann) of Vincennes, IN, Roger Curry of Greencastle, IN, and Xavier Curry of Sandborn, IN. His legacy continues to ripple through the lives of his adored seven grandchildren: Nate Lundy, Kristen Lundy, Megan Fields (Matt), Madison Curry-Hedge (Garrett), Payton Curry, Alec Curry, and Brendan Curry and two great-grandchildren, Ledger and Stella Fields.
He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: John Curry (Jennifer) of Vincennes, IN, Kathy Ham (Steve) of Bloomfield, IN, Janet Clinkenbeard (Gordon) of Freelandville, IN, and Julie Cullen (Robert) of Bicknell, IN. Bongo is reunited in passing with his parents, Clayton Raphael Curry and Kathleen “Scott” Pack, who preceded him in death.
The absence of his presence will be felt deeply, but the echoes of his laughter, the strum of his guitar, and the countless stories of joy will continue to fill the hearts of all who loved him. Brian’s life was a beautiful melody of kindness, friendship, and creative spirit—a melody that will play on in memory.
There will be a memorial visitation on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 11:00-1:00 at the Bicknell First Baptist Church, with a memorial service following at 1:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Seth Alexander.
