It is with deep affection and fond remembrance that we celebrate the life of Sondra Joan Wininger, who passed away on January 14, 2025, in Newburgh, IN. She was born on August 29, 1947, in Vincennes, IN, and departed this life leaving a legacy of love and warmth that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Sondra’s life began as the beloved daughter of Sidney and Leona Rogers, and she grew up to become an esteemed graduate of Lincoln High School in the Class of 1965. Her pursuit of education continued with the completion of various business courses that would pave the way for a rewarding professional life. For 32 dedicated years, Sondra offered her talents as an Administrative Assistant at Daviess Community Hospital, where her efficiency and kindness touched many lives. Further expressing her entrepreneurial spirit, she found joy and friendship as a Mary Kay Consultant.
Her loving spirit extended to her cherished survivors, including her children Joanna Courtney, Deborah Courtney, and Matthew Courtney; step-children Billie Chandler and Dustye McCallon; 5 grandchildren, Casey McCracken, Triston Thombleson, Kendrick Thombleson, Kiara Moser, and Hadlynn Courtney; her 5 step-grandchildren, Maci, Luci, Molly, Kallie, and Eli, and 5 great-grandchildren, Khynzlie, Zailee, Dacionna, Alex, and Aleah. Additionally, the joyous comfort of her Yorkie puppy, Sydney, and the steadfast presence of her friend and caretaker Laverne Price filled her days with comfort and companionship. Preceding her in passing were her devoted husband, Bill Wininger, and her parents. The family would like to give a special thanks to Majestic Care of Newburgh and Heart-to-Heart Hospice for all they did for Sondra in care and companionship.
Sondra was remarkable for her love of life’s simple pleasures; she enjoyed caring for her 8 Yorkie puppies, crocheting beautiful works of art, the leisurely competitions at the bowling alley, and the quiet moments spent watching hummingbirds dance in her garden. Sondra was blessed with a nurturing and kind-hearted nature, embodying the values of her faith as a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church especially through the joyful music of singing in the choir and playing the organ.
Remembered for her loving demeanor, friendly grace, and creative spark, Sondra graced the lives of many, weaving a tapestry of friendships that will endure in her absence. Her story will be told through the laughter of her children, the playfulness of her puppies, and the blooming flowers that she so tenderly cared for, forever preserving the essence of a life beautifully lived.
