Dorothy Ann Bray, age 88, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away on April 1, 2026. She was born on March 24, 1938, in Connersville, Indiana. Dorothy carried herself with grace and strength throughout her years, and she will be remembered with love by all who knew her.
Dorothy graduated from Connersville High School and went on to build a life centered on service and responsibility. She worked as a realtor and also owned and operated her own cleaning service. In addition, she worked at the KCARC Women’s Home, where she shared her time and care with others. Dorothy found joy in simple pleasures, especially in the companionship of her cats, whom she loved dearly. Her gentle spirit and affectionate nature extended to the animals she cared for, and that tenderness was one of the many qualities that made her so special.
Dorothy is survived by her companion, John Devlin; her children, Brenda Lee Holloway (Curt), Fred Cameron Cox (Cheryl), and Joseph Dean Cox (Laurie); her ten grandchildren, Carrie Lee Keller, Ryan Dean Cox, Laura Nicole Jimenez, Thomas Gary Cox II, Amanda Cox, Cody Cameron Cox, Zach Cameron McCarter, Greg Alan Cox, Chance Holloway, and Cory Holloway; and her ten great-grandchildren, Trista Kershner, Erik Kershner, Briley Cox, Lizzie Cox, Zellie Cox, Jazlyn Cox, Roxie Cox, and Felix Cox. Dorothy treasured her family deeply, and her love for them was evident in the way she lived and the memories she created with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Cameron and Catherine Julia “Moran” Bray; her daughter, Vickie Ann Cox; her son, Thomas Gary Cox; and her two sisters. These losses were deeply felt, and Dorothy carried the memory of her loved ones with her throughout her life.
Those who knew Dorothy will remember a woman of strength and kindness. Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences and fond memories may be made at www.fredrickandson.com. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Vincennes Chapel, is honored to be entrusted with Dorothy’s arrangements.
