Knox County Sheriff’ Doug Vantlin believes the latest expansion of the Knox County Jail will be adequate for hoped-for Knox County growth. Vantlin feels more housing and more people here could mean more criminal incidents.
Further, Sheriff Vantlin knows no matter what happens to the inmate numbers, the staff numbers will be adequate to handle them,
After this year, that legacy of good numbers will go to a new Sheriff. After being term-limited to eight years, Vantlin will retire when his term expires at the end of the year.
