(NK– demolition bids accepted) (Wednesday 3/10/26 … tlz 6a)
The North Knox School Board has accepted three bids for a potential demolition of the former North Knox East Elementary and Junior High facility in Edwardsport. Bids were submitted by Kerns Excavating, Robinson Excavating, and Mullins Contracting.
The building was the former North Knox High School, prior to the current facility being built in the 1970’s. After the move it was used as a combined elementary/junior high facility up to its eventual closure. It has stood vacant since it closed.
North Knox officials believe with the shape of the structure, it would cost too much to salvage the facility. The bids will be reviewed over the next week; an award decision is possible in April.
