Heavy rain has brought some high water levels on the White River, but no t as much on the Wabash and Embarras Rivers.
The White River at Edwardport is now near moderate flood stage, at 22 feet—seven over flood stage. It will crest at 23 feet on Sunday morning. Downriver at Petersburg, the White is six feet over flood stage. It will crest 7 feet over, and stay at that crest level all next week before falling.
In contrast, the Wabash River is not being forecast to flood at all. The Wabash is expected to top out two feet below flood stage this afternoon, and fall back after that. At Mount Carmel, the high waters of the White hitting the Wabash will send the river about a foot over flood stage.
Finally, the Embarras River at Lawrenceville will top out at flood stage on Saturday, and then fall back rapidly.
Some county and state highways—especially on the White River—will be affected by the flood waters. Those in low-lying areas along the rivers should take proper precautions.
