Latest Crypto Based Scam Hits Greene County

   The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is warning the public about a scam in which the caller spoofs the department’s phone number and asks the intended victim to pay a bond.
      In these calls, individuals are instructed to purchase various crypto-currencies or gift cards and provide them to the caller.
      The sheriff’s office says it will never call and ask you to pay a bond over the telephone.
      Bond payments are only accepted in cash at the sheriff’s department.
      If you receive a call that appears to be from the Greene CouCryptonty Sheriff’s Department, and you are not sure of the validity of the call, simply hang up and contact the sheriff’s department.
