Donald Eugene Goforth, a loving family man and respected community member, passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 88 in Evansville, Indiana. Born on April 18, 1937, in Henryville, Indiana, he lived a full and vibrant life, treasured by all who knew him.
Don graduated from high school and went on to master the precision skills of a machinist, working at Johnson Controls. His contributions to the industry were immense, and his colleagues admired his diligent work ethic. Married on January 4, 1980, in Vincennes, Indiana, Don and the love of his life, Rosalee “Heishman” Goforth, built a beautiful life full of adventure, sharing a love of the outdoors, as evidenced by their countless trips, camping, and fishing excursions.
A man of diverse interests and community spirit, Don involved himself in the U.A.W. local union 1823 and joined the brotherhood of the former Oaktown Masonic Lodge. He channeled his passion for sports into coaching Little League in Oaktown, where he led young athletes with dedication and passion. His love for fast-pitch softball was unparalleled, and he could be seen playing with as much enthusiasm as any professional athlete—an avid NASCAR fan, Don cherished his collection of die-cast NASCAR cars and keychains.
Above all, family was the cornerstone of Don’s world. Loved by his children, Kim Marie Mosley (Ken), Donna June Hobbs (Wendall), Sandi Decker (Mick Smith), and Gail Mitchell (Wayne Boyd); and his daughter-in-law, Heather Goforth, Don was an anchor in their lives. His ten grandchildren, particularly close to Ryan Decker, Robin Decker, Dusty Decker, Joe Frey, Travis Frey, and Erin Rice, will remember him for his humor, guidance, and unwavering support. His 15 great-grandchildren have been left with a legacy of cherished memories and stories that will continue to inspire and guide them. Don is also remembered by his nephews, Rick, Ron, and Mike Goff.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Rosalee, his parents, Howard Edmond and Mary Ellen “Price” Goforth, his son, Robert “Bobby” Goforth, and his sister, Patricia “Pat” Goff, Don now joins them, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and community involvement. His passing marks the end of an era, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. Donald Eugene Goforth’s memory will be treasured always, and his impact will be felt for generations to come.
