Gary Wayne Emery, 69, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away on January 24, 2026, surrounded by love. He was born on September 18, 1956, in Vincennes, Indiana, where his roots ran deep and his legacy will long be felt.
Gary was a strong, stubborn man in the best sense of the word — determined, hardworking, and fiercely loyal to the people he loved. He loved his family above all else: his children, his grandchildren, and the many friends who became family along the way.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Emery; his mother, Velma Westphal; and his brother, Carl Emery. He is survived by his sons, Craig Emery (Tiffany) of San Marcos, Texas, and Cory Emery of Vincennes, Indiana; his brother, Stan Emery of Vincennes, Indiana; and his three grandchildren, Chase, Eliana, and Carter Emery.
Gary had a lifelong love for racing — watching it, doing it, and talking about it. His garage and shop were his happy place, where he spent countless hours building, fixing, and tinkering with cars. He worked at CLR until retiring four years ago, choosing to spend his final years exactly how he wanted: working on cars, listening to his favorite music, watching his favorite racers, and soaking up time with the people he loved.
Gary will be remembered for his grit, his passion, his stubborn determination, and most of all, his heart for family. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 10 AM until 1 PM at Fredrick and Son-McClure at Funeral Home, Vincennes Chapel with a service immediately following at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Memorial park Cemetery. Online condolences and fond memories may be left at www.fredrickandson.com.
