The Knox County Commissioners have approved the planting of one or two White Oak trees somewhere on the Knox County Courthouse lot. The work is part of an overall plan of tree planting– especially across Vincennes. A third planting will be held on the grounds of the Old Cathedral in downtown Vincennes, along with a grove of trees being considered for the Vincennes Rendezvous grounds.
The tree planting is part of America’s 250th birthday celebration. Vincennes Tree Board member Dennis Kordes wants the next generation of County rsidents to be involved in something to last for the next 250 years.
Kordes also mentions the work is part of the requirement for Vincennes to receive Tree City status.
The locations for Courthouse tree planting will be determined soon by Kordes and Knox County Commissioner Tim Ellerman the Second. The Commissioners approved the oak planting for the County Courthouse unanimously.
