Tony Lee Williams, 63, of Freelandville Indiana, passed away on December 31, 2025 in Indianapolis with his two sons by his side. He was born on March 1, 1962, in Vincennes, Indiana to Jerry and Sue Ann Williams.
Tony was a long time coal miner and retired from Bear Run Mine. He also farmed, and started his working career at age 13 as a farmhand. He loved hunting, gardening, and most of all tormenting his nieces, nephews, and grandkids. He earned the nicknames, ‘Midget’ and ‘Sweet Pea’ which his friends and coworkers called him, and was lovingly called ‘Papaw Midget’ by his grandchildren. If he wasn’t out hunting for himself, he was out walking the brush for others, and was often the one taking kids for their first hunt. He shared everything he had in his garden. Even planting things he himself didn’t like just so others could enjoy. He often claimed he wasn’t going to have a garden the next year, but always did and it was bigger and better than the last. He was also a top notch boat driver and if he was driving, tube riders knew they were going to be dumped out. In his youth, he raced four wheelers, and his sons grew to race as well, giving them a special hobby that was shared. He was a selfless man who would give you anything he had except his chair in the garage, his dogs, or his deer heads. He was a friend to all, and is going to be missed dearly.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Terry Williams, and his father, Jerry Williams. He is survived by his sons Nolan (Sara) Williams, and Nathan Williams. His grandchildren, Jake and Layla Williams, and Jameson Williams. His mother, Sue Ann Williams, his sister, Teresa (Ray) Hatton, his brothers, Tim Williams and Ted (Jennifer) Williams. His nieces and nephews; Shannon (Eric) Green, Daniel (Tristan) Hatton, Zack Williams, and Andy Williams. And numerous aunt and uncles, great nieces and nephews; Katie and Connor Green, Sam and Caroline Hatton, Sadie Williams, and Jaylynn Williams.
