Richard Wayne Carie, beloved husband, father, grandfather, grt grandfather and brother, passed away on December 21, 2025, at the age of 90, in his hometown of Vincennes, Indiana. As Richard often said, “When the Good Lord calls you home, there is not a power on earth that can stop it.” His life was defined by this quiet faith, which brought him peace and comfort in every season.
Born on April 13, 1935, in Vincennes, Richard spent his life rooted in the community he cherished. After completing his high school education, he began working at Wabash Parts before honorably serving in the United States Air Force.
Following his military service, Richard embarked on a long career in the banking industry, working at American National Bank and later at Lawrenceville National Bank, where he helped establish the loan department and contributed to its growth. Later in life, Richard worked in automobile sales, where he was known for his honesty and
integrity. On February 9, 1957, Richard married the love of his life, Georgia Farrell “Paddick” Carie. They shared 68 years of marriage and built a strong, loving family. Together, they raised four children: Rhonda Carie (Kim) of Leavenworth, IN; Randy Carie (Carla) of West Lafayette,
IN; Russ Carie (Chris) of Mt. Carmel, IL; and Rod Carie (Kristie) of Vincennes, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rick Carie, Carl Carie (Tasha), Calvin Carie, Clayton Carie (Amber), Kali Carie (Blaine), Keenan Carie, Khenden Carie, Justin Hamblin (Amanda), and
Chelsey Niezwaag (Matt); and great-grandchildren, Bellamey, Chloe, Brylynn, Abby, Bostyn, Emily, Melodie, Paxton, Kaylynn, Johnathan, Evylin, and Penny. His love for his family and the lessons he imparted will be cherished for generations. He is also survived by his siblings, Shirley Rose of Vincennes, IN, JoAnn Hughes of Vincennes, IN, and Norma Schulze of Oaktown, IN. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Leona “Horsting” Carie, and his sister, Mary Lou Wilson.
Richard found joy in life simple pleasures, He loved the time spent on his house boat on Ky lake when the kids were younger, and later at the cabin on the Wabash where friends and family would often visit while sitting around a camp fire, lately; just a drive through kimmel park
looking at the river and looking back remembering all of the good times shared. He enjoyed his animals, he enjoyed the outdoors with a blue sky, but Above all, Richard treasured his family. He was devoted to them in every way, and while his presence will be greatly missed, his memory
will live on through the stories shared and the love he gave.
Richard Wayne Carie will be remembered for his integrity, kindness, and unwavering commitment to those he loved. His life was a testament to hard work, quiet strength, and the importance of family.
