Kris Michael Rish, 74, passed in his sleep Monday morning, Dec. 15. He had labored with health issues for the last few years and was residing in Washington, IN
He was born in Vincennes Aug. 5, 1951 to Rolland and Rita Rish, both deceased. He is survived by two siblings, Kent Mason Rish and Kaye Ellen Rish, both living in Bicknell. Kris is the father of Madeline Marcelle Rish, 19. She is college bound and resides in FL with her mother, Nicole Rish Schall and steptather David Schall.
Kris worked at Brocksmith Veterinary Clinic in Vincennes as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. He moved to Florida shortly after graduation from Lincoln High with the Class of ’69, continuing to work in the veterinary field with the Zephyrhills Clinic and Gainesville Animal Hospital. Switching careers, he moved to insurance sales with Pacific Mutual where he rose to Senior Sales Executive (1985-2005) and was also awarded as the nations top salesman for the company.
Upon retirement he returned to Bicknell and worked at Mason Heritage Farm, becoming their first and probably only cow whisperer. Among his other accomplishments, in the early 70s he disassembled a Contac capsule and counted the tiny time pills to verify their claim of containing 925. Kris never found a gadget he didn’t want to take apart in hopes that he could put it back together. He was successful more than not.
Other surviving family members include one aunt, Helen Mason Wolfe of Vincennes and an uncle, Jim Mason of Bicknell; numerous cousins and several nieces and nephews.
A spring memorial service is being planned. All attending are encouraged to bring photos and memories to share. A notice will be advertised and posted on Facebook when plans for his Celebration of Life are finalized.
Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes Bicknell Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
