The Knox County Salvation Army is reporting great success getting sponsors for its Angel Tree children. Those wishing to sponsor an Angel Tree child take a name from the tree, and supply items listed on the tag with the name.
Knox County Salvation Army commander Joey Gates says the Angel Tree’s names have turned over already. Gates credits the high number of sponsored kids in part to various groups who take it on themselves to give children a merrier Christmas.
The Angel Tree program goes along with other Salvation Army seasonal programs. Those include the annual Salvation Army Christmas Toy Shop, and the traditional Christmas food basket giveaways.
