Beverly J. Shoup, a cherished mother and friend, passed away at the age of 82 on November 20, 2025, in Evansville, Indiana. Beverly was born on June 22, 1943, in Highland, Illinois, to the late Warren H. and Sara J. “Thomason” Siever. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Growing up, Beverly’s early years were filled with the love of family and the joy of small-town life. Later, in Washington, Illinois, Beverly became a proud graduate of the Washington Community High School, class of 1961. Her education laid the foundation for a life characterized by diligence, integrity, and a passion for service. After graduation, she married the love of her life, Jim Shoup, and they built a life filled with compassion and love until Jim’s passing.
After graduation, Beverly embarked on a position as a bank clerk. She later retired as a secretary. Her meticulous attention to detail and genuine care for her clients made her not just an employee but a friend to many within the community. Beyond her professional life, Beverly was an active member of the New Hope Christian Church in Washington, Indiana. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and nurturing her spirit.
Beverly found joy and peace in the simpler pleasures of life. Amongst her cherished activities were delving into the world of books, expressing her creativity through sewing and crafts, and spending countless hours in her garden – a haven for the vibrant flowers she so adored. Her talents extended to jigsaw puzzles and games, activities that brought laughter and cherished moments to Beverly and her family.
Her legacy of love and gentle strength lives on through her devoted children, Lori Garcia, Erick Shoup (Staci), and Kelly Atkins (Ryan), her beloved grandchildren, Julian Garcia (Logan Hodgson), Nicolas Garcia (Sarah), Briana Hawkins, Olivia Johnson (Chris), and Joseph Shoup, and her great-grandchildren, Owen, Matthew, Samuel Hawkins, and Leo Jensen. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Judy Jarvis, Dennis Siever, Brad Siever, Mike Siever, Norman Siever, and Sue Randle. Beverly’s life story is one of boundless love and compassion, and her memory will be held close in the hearts of her children, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
As the matriarch of her family, Beverly’s guidance and love shaped the lives of those around her in ineffable ways. Her influence remains a guiding force, a light for future generations to follow. Her spirit continues to resonate within the lives of her loved ones. Now, as we bid farewell, we reflect upon a life well-lived, a life of purpose, and a life overflowing with the love she so freely gave. We remember Beverly J. Shoup not for her departure, but for the countless beautiful moments and profound impact she imparted during her time with us.
