Donald Ray Whitehead, aged 68, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on November 19, 2025, in Oaktown, Indiana. Born on September 22, 1957, in Jasper, Indiana, he was a son to the late Martha Bedwell Whitehead and John Whitehead.
Donald was a patriot at heart, having honorably served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he found his calling driving a fertilizer truck for Ceres Solutions, where his hard work and dedication made him a valued employee and friend to many. His service to his country and community was a source of pride, establishing a legacy of commitment and resilience.
In his personal life, Donald was a man of many passions. He relished the simple pleasures of being in the great outdoors, whether he was horseback riding, searching for arrowheads, hunting for mushrooms, or casting a line into the river. Sharing these moments with his grandchildren, Keaton Toth, Tylee Toth, and Anistyn Cardinal, brought him immeasurable joy. His love for his daughter, Kendra was a guiding force in his life, and the moments they spent together were among his most treasured.
Donald’s absence will be deeply felt by his siblings, Larry Whitehead (Judy), Marsha Bender (Daryll), David Whitehead (Diana), Ronald Whitehead (Nancy), Charlotte Capehart (Vance), and Betty Brenton (Scott). Each sibling shared a unique bond with him, and the stories of their shared adventures and laughs will live on in their memories.
As we bid farewell to Duck, let us celebrate the life of a man who personified a quiet strength and an enduring love for his family and friends. May the recollection of his laughter, the stories he told, and the wisdom he imparted bring comfort to those he has left behind. Donald Ray Whitehead lived a full life, rich in experiences and encircled by people who loved him. While he will be greatly missed, his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, December 6 at the Farm Bureau building in Bicknell, Indiana from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Online condolences and fond memories may be shared at www.fredrickandson.com. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes are honored to be entrusted with Mr. Whitehead’s arrangements.
