Washington Carnegie Public Library was selected in July to receive a micro-grant from WETA as part of the national engagement campaign for THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, the upcoming PBS documentary series from acclaimed filmmakers Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt.
The Library’s proposal stood out among more than 440 applicants nationwide, making it one of only 40 libraries in the country—and just two in Indiana—chosen for the opportunity.
With support from this grant, the Washington Library will host a slate of community events leading up to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Those include documentary screenings, a scholar presentation, children’s story time events, a reading challenge, and civic discussion opportunities.
