Indiana Gov. Mike Braun still believes he’ll end up calling a special session for lawmakers to redraw the state’s congressional maps. The White House has been involved in discussions to persuade Indiana Republicans to redraw the districts, with Vice President JD Vance and President Donald Trump advocating for more U.S. House seats for Republicans in Indiana. This is despite allegations of a reported lack of Republican Statehouse support, and some polls showing a general resistance to the idea.
Gov. Braun sees this as a way to level the playing field against heavily-gerrymandered Democratic states.
