The defense in the Dylan Smith murder case has filed for both a change of venue and an insanity plea in the case. In filings this week, the defense wants to move the trial outside of Knox County, as well as to set groundwork for an insanity defense.
The 30 year-old Smith is accused of the August fifth shooting death of Taylor Hendershot in a Sixth Street parking lot. A final pretrial conference is set for October ninth, with the jury trial set for November fourth. The case is currently being heard in Knox Circuit Court.
