The Knox County Commissioners have budgeted an added half-million dollars for its self-insurance plan as part of next year’s budget. Knox County Commissioners’ president T-J Brink calls it a step in keeping cost down for what he calls an expensive family insurance plan, Brink also reminds everyone that in some ways, up to a certain amount for County officials, the County is its own insurance agent.
Last week, the County raised the amount of its coverage to 100-thousand dollars. That move will also keep premium costs down for County officials, and for its employees.
