Marvin Brent Ross passed away at the age of 67 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, on August 4, 2025. Born on January 7, 1958, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Marvin Dean and Mary Joan “Wolfe” Ross, Marvin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose kindness and humor brought joy to all who knew him.
Marvin attended local schools and graduated, preparing him for success in his life. He grew up with a natural affinity for the inner workings of both machinery and nature. Marvin spent decades dedicated to his craft as a mechanic, garnering respect for his handiness and problem-solving skills. Alongside his automotive work, the family farm was never far from his thoughts, and he provided for his loved ones with the same dedication he put into his craft.
On August 11, 2011, Marvin married his beloved wife, Billie Rose “Garner” Ross, in a beautiful ceremony in Vincennes. The couple’s love for one another was an inspiring testament to their commitment and affection.
Marvin was the proud father of three children: Travis Ross (Jami) of Vincennes, Indiana, Danica Luenebrink (Mike) of Monroe City, Indiana, and Lindsey Murphy (Ryan) of Vincennes, Indiana. His love for his family was immense, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was also the older brother of Steve Ross. Marvin was the grandfather to his seven grandchildren, Brady Carie, Brayten Potter, Dylan Potter, Lance Potter, Gunnar Murphy, Kaynen Murphy, and Romeo Murphy, each of whom held a unique place in his heart.
Aside from his family life, Marvin was no stranger to thrills. His interests in farming, fishing, and flat track racing showcased his passion for life. He loved sharing his passion for dirt bikes & outdoors. Those who knew Marvin will fondly remember him for his friendship, his one-of-a-kind sense of humor, and his ability to fix anything that fit into his hands.
Marvin’s legacy is carried on through his family. Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Scott Ross, he leaves behind a family who loved him deeply. Marvin Brent Ross’s life was a series of warm memories, hard work, and precious time spent with loved ones. As we say goodbye, we cherish the laughter and fellowship he brought into our world. Our memories of Marvin will forever be treasured.
