Harold Leroy Carter, a cherished man, friend, and member of the Bicknell community, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on September 28 1959, in Gary, Indiana to George Washington Chester Carter and Thelma Mary “Archer” Carter. Harold was known for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and his ability to make any moment more enjoyable. The joy of Harold’s life was his family, particularly his children and grandchildren, who will forever remember his playful spirit and loving guidance. His daughters, Karen Mincey and Melissa Carpenter, grandchildren; Harley McGregor (Colton), Dade Lantrip, Jaxon Carpenter (Carrie), Bradyn Mincey (Lillie), Desirae Carpenter, Riley Mincey, and Brandon Mincey II, and nine great grandchildren will carry forward his legacy of kindness and humor. Harold was a devoted brother to Chester (Jan), Donald (Ginny), and Billy (Pam) Carter. These relationships were a testament to the love and compassion that defined the Carter family. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Chester Carter and Thelma Mary “Archer” Carter, as well as his brothers, Robert and Harry Carter, who left an indelible mark on his heart. Harold was a proud employee at Johnson Controls, where his colleagues valued his dedication and friendly demeanor. He later contributed to the well-being of his adopted hometown through his work at the Bicknell City Street Department, where his hard work and commitment to community service was shown as well as his dedication. Beyond his work, Harold had a zest for life that was evident in his hobbies and interests. He was an avid pool player, who enjoyed the camaraderie and challenge of the game. Harold could often be found watching his favorite sports teams, cheering them on with the same passion he brought to every aspect of his life. His love for the television show “American Pickers” showcased his fascination with history and the stories behind everyday treasures. Those who knew Harold will remember him as a funny, friendly, and interesting man. His conversations were never dull, and his presence was a source of joy for all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Harold’s ability to tell a story was unparalleled, and his sense of humor was a gift that he generously shared with everyone he met. As we bid farewell to Harold Lee Carter, we celebrate a life lived with laughter, love, and a genuine interest in others. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his extraordinary personality.
