William E. Bement, a man known for his friendly demeanor and spirited nature, passed away on June 12, 2025, in Bicknell, Indiana. Born on July 25, 1944, in the small town of Freelandville, Indiana, William’s journey was one of joy, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones.
After graduating from Bicknell High School in 1963, the last class to do so, William set out to build a life marked by dedication and hard work. He retired from Scepter, Inc. in 2000, having poured twenty-four years of his life into his career. In love and life, his heart found its match in Darlene “Meier” Bement, whom he married on July 5, 1968, in Edwardsport, Indiana. Together, they created a legacy of love and family that continued to flourish through the years.
William thrived when he was outdoors, whether he was playing football in his younger years or enjoying a serene hunting trip. He shared these passions with his children and grandchildren, teaching them the values of perseverance and the joy of life’s simple pleasures.
William leaves behind his cherished family, who will fondly remember his warmth and kindness. Survivors include his beloved wife, Darlene Bement, of Bicknell, IN; his children, Jason W. Bement of Evansville, IN, and Danielle (Rick) Emmons of Bruceville, IN; and his adored grandchildren, Jennessa and Jarrett Bement, and Paige and Chase Emmons, whose achievements and dreams he proudly supported.
His legacy continues through his siblings, Wayne (Susan) Bement, of Bicknell, IN, and Mary Stipp, of Edwardsport, IN. William was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Martha “Wesley” Bement, and his brother-in-law, Ronnie Stipp, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.
William E. Bement’s life was a testament to family and dedication. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, his light will forever shine in the hearts and stories of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He was more than the patriarch of his family; he was a beacon of joy and the embodiment of a life well-lived.
