Indiana Governor Mike Braun is defending his decision to remove Vivian Winston, Donna Spears, and Jill Maurer Burnett as trustees at Indiana University. Winston’s term was due to end this year, but Spears and Maurer Burnett’s terms were set to end in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
Braun had previously said he wouldn’t remove the three due to their terms ending soon. He was given control over the three alumni-appointed trustee spots as part of the state budget. The language was allegedly added at the last minute without public comment.
