Knox County Commissioners’ president T-J Brink has given his defense of a repeal of a more-restrictive invasive species ordinance covering Knox County. The former ordinance banned 20 more invasive species that was restricted on a list kept by the State of Indiana.
Brink re-states his feeling that the County’s extra invasives ban was harmful to small business landscapers. Brink also feels the invasive species issue should not be at the county level, but at the state level. He also says he is all for bringing the issue to the Indiana invasives control board.
The vote to pass the two repeals was 2-1, with Commissioner Kellie Streeter voting against the repeals. Streeter—who was a big part in getting the original ordinance passed—feels it would be bad for agriculture, and Knox County in general.
