The Vincennes Lincoln tennis sectional matchups are now set. Starting tonight—weather allowing—Vincennes Rivet will face Vincennes Lincoln. Tomorrow night—again if weather holds—Washington Catholic will face Washington, with South Knox playing the winner of the Lincoln-Rivet match. At this time, the championship match is set for Friday.
The Rivet baseball team wins a five-inning, 10-0 victory over White River Valley. Henry Holka led the way with three hits and four steals. Brody Shots threw a one-hit five inning shutout for the win; Shots and Nash Ransom also had two hits apiece in the game.
The Vincennes Linocoln Lady Alices had 17 hits, but it wasn’t enough, as a ten-run opening frame led the Gibson Southern Lady Titans to a 23-12 victory yesterday at Four Lakes Park. L=H-S gave up four home runs in the game. Kahre McCrary had four hits for the Lady Alices, with Grace Archer and Matti Collins scoring three apiece. LHS is now 11-12 on the year.
The North Knox junior high girls’ track team won the Blue Chip Conference meet yesterday, as they gathered 103 points to defeat Northeast Dubois with 87. South Knox was a close third with 83. Barr-Reeve was next, followed by Loogootee Wood Memorial, Washington Catholic, Shoals, and Rivet.
North Knox winners included Kendal McGuire in three events, with the 400 and 1600 meter relay teams also winners. South Knox three individual first places, along with a win from their 32-hundred meter relay team.
In the boys meet, North Knox placed sixth. The best Warrior boys’ finish was a third place for the 400 meter relay.
